THE "STATE OF ISRAEL" FROM A "KINGDOM" PERSPECTIVE

Our study of the question, "Could World War II have been the Great Tribulation?", revealed that World War II was a prophetic event, that it could be associated with specific prophecies in both the Olivet Discourse and Daniel pertinent to the Abomination of Desolation and Great Tribulation of the End Times, and that it occurred in the proper prophetic time frame to be the catalyst to cause the Jews to be returned to their Land after a period of almost 1900 years.

Our study of "The State of Israel from a Biblical perspective" indicated that a direct reading of Old Testament prophecies pertaining to Israel's future led to the conclusion that God intends for that nation to be regathered to the Land of their inheritance in the End Times, initially in an unsaved state, but finally into a renewed relation with God for the Millennial Kingdom.

Our study of "The State of Israel from an historic perspective" saw how the modern State of Israel arrived in the Land in a very secular and largely unsaved state, consistent with Bible prophecies concerning an End Times Israel. Yet there appears to be little in the historic facts of their return to persuade us that the present State of Israel is the one fulfilling those Biblical prophecies. Moreover, the world at large is either ambivalent about its legitimacy in the Land or outright hostile against it, as in the case of Islam.

THE STATE OF ISRAEL
APPEARS TO BE PATTERNED AFTER
THE OLD TESTAMENT UNITED KINGDOM

When we studied the possible prophetic significance of World War II, we used the following techniques  to determine that it was a prophetic event, so let's apply them again to determine whether or how the State of Israel should be related to the End Times.

The following portion of Israel's Redemptive Timeline is repeated here to show that Israel's 20th century restoration should be related in some way to the Old Testament United Kingdom period.

Notice that this extended Redemptive Timeline causes the State of Israel's creation in the 20th century to be juxtaposed with the initial phases of the Old Testament United Kingdom. During this period Saul reigned for 40 years, then was followed by David and Solomon. Of particular interest is David's Kingdom, because there are many promises in the Old Testament tying his reign to that of Messiah in the Millennial Kingdom to come.

DAVID AND HIS KINGDOM
WERE PROTOTYPICAL OF
MESSIAH AND HIS MILLENNIAL KINGDOM

David was that most influential and famous of all the Old Testament kings of Israel. To be sure, David had many faults, but he was the man used by God to transition Israel from just a collection of twelve Tribes to a sovereign nation under God, while subduing all of their enemies around. Beyond this, the Bible also credits David with being a man after God's own heart (I Samuel 13.14), and records numerous prophecies that make David prototypical of Messiah, making David's kingdom prototypical of the Messianic one that shall be set up during the End Times.

The following Psalm was written by David as he appealed to God to protect him against his enemies, but Peter interprets this Psalm in the book of Acts as actually referring to Messiah. Hence this becomes a Messianic Psalm in which David is writing prototypically as a "stand-in" for Messiah, whose death and resurrection would occur more than a thousand years later.

(Psalm 16.1-16)
1 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD, " You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You."
3 As for the saints who are on the earth, "They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight."
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips.
5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.
7 I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.
10
For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

(Acts 2:22-31)
22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know--
23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;
24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
25
For David says concerning Him: 'I foresaw the LORD always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.'
29 "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,
31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.

NKJV

In a second example below, David writes as though he were personally experiencing the pain and suffering that Messiah would experience at the time of His crucifixion.

(Psalm 22:1, 12-22)
1
My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?

12 Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.
13 They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.
16 For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet;
17 I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.
18 They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.

19 But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me; O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
20 Deliver Me from the sword, My precious life from the power of the dog.
21 Save Me from the lion's mouth And from the horns of the wild oxen! You have answered Me.
22 I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.

(Matthew 27:27-31, 45-46)
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him.
28 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
30 Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.
31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.

45 Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is,
"My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"

NKJV

Not only do these Old Testament scriptures appear to substitute David for Messiah, but the following prophecies continue to draw close parallels between David's kingdom and the Messianic one to occur in the future.

(2 Samuel 7:12-17)
12 "When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.
15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
16 And your house and
your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.
17 According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

(Isaiah 9:6-7)
6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

(Ezekiel 37:21-25)
21 Then say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;
22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again.
23 They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
24 "
David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them.
25 Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children's children, forever; and
My servant David shall be their prince forever.

(Mark 11:1-2, 7-10)
11:1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples;
2 and He said to them, "Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it.

7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it.
8 And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9 Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
"Hosanna! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!'
10
Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"

NKJV

Consequently, the very fact that Israel's Redemptive Timeline causes a portion of David's kingdom to be set against that of the 20th century State of Israel, suggests that events contemporary with modern Israel might be fulfilling provisions leading up to the Millennial Kingdom.

THE STATE OF ISRAEL'S TIMELINE IS REPEATING THE TIMETABLE FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM,
AND WAS PROPHETIC FOR THE YEARS 1988-1995

As this relationship between David and Messiah was examined in more detail in Coming Glory, it was discovered that the State of Israel's May 14, 1948 declaration of independence happened to be the very  date that caused all of the subsequent time intervals in its historic timeline to begin and end on  Levitical dates relevant to the End Times.

OLD TESTAMENT KINGDOM 20TH CENTURY STATE OF ISRAEL
1046 BC Saul began to reign May 14, 1948 State of Israel formed
+ 40 years (Acts 13.21) + 40 solar years (exactly)
Jubilee 1006 BC David reigns over Judah
+ 6 months (II Samuel 5.5)  + 6 solar months (exactly)
  November 13 (Chislev 4), 1988
+ 7 years (II Samuel 5.5) + 7 years (7 x 360 days/year = 2520 days)
999 BC David reigns over all Israel Tishri 14 (Tabernacles) , Jubilee 1995

This extraordinary circumstance bears a close examination, because it suggests that the 20th century State of Israel is following a time schedule patterned after the setting up of the Old Testament Davidic Kingdom, even though it's documented history since 1948 appears superficially to be completely secular and devoid of any prophetic overtones. Nonetheless, the End Times significance of those interim 20th century Levitical dates earmarked in the chart cannot be avoided when they are associated with the following prophetic texts in the Bible.

(Zechariah 14.16)
And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

NKJV

THE STATE OF ISRAEL'S TIMELINE DURING 1988-1995
(PLUS MAJOR WORLD EVENTS RELATED TO ISRAEL)
WERE BASED ON A 360 DAY/YEAR CALENDAR SYSTEM

Still another amazing happening was the way in which a series of major world events suddenly became synchronized with the State of Israel's timeline during the years 1988-1995. For those years, it was discovered in Coming Glory that both the State of Israel's timeline and the timing of those major world events were timed on the basis of a 360 day/year calendar system. This characteristic is seen partly from the above table by the fact that starting with Chislev 4, the final seven-years had to be counted on the basis of a 360 day/year system in order to cause the final day of the seventh year to fall on Tishri 14, 1995, at the advent of Tabernacles. Of course, such an unlikely circumstance could be explained if 1988-1995 were being governed by the same system of timing that governed the first 69 Weeks of Daniel's 70 Weeks.

The fact that the State of Israel's timeline can be so organized to highlight a seven-year period whose duration is 360 days/year x 7 years = 2520 days, might seem at first blush to be nothing more than a strategy to manufacture a hypothetical 70th Week of Daniel, if it were not for the fact that major world events related either directly or indirectly to the State of Israel during that same 1988-1995 period were also timed by a 360 day/year calendar system. Of course, if a remnant of the State of Israel is in the process of becoming a part of Millennial Kingdom Israel, there would have to be embedded within its timeline, at an appropriate point, a time interval based on a 360 day calendar to complete Daniel's 70th Week. In keeping with these observations, notice how this particular seven-year period, seems to fulfill several of the requirements that might be expected for Daniel's 70th Week.

It was the "40th Jubilee" since the birth of Jesus Christ, thereby completing Israel's period of "testing" during the Times of the Gentiles prior to their final redemption.

It was the "60th Jubilee" since David's Old Testament kingdom, thereby completing Israel's kingdoms under men prior to their final Kingdom under God.

CONCLUDING REMARKS

By studying the makeup of the State of Israel's timeline since 1948, it is determined that,

These historic facts seem to be leading to a scenario for the End Times quite different from that conceived by the prevailing "pre-tribulation rapture" theory of eschatology, for that concept defines the advent of the 70th Week of Daniel to be the occasion for the rapture of the Body of Christ, and the 70th Week proper to be the time for the Great Tribulation and the rise of "Anti-Christ". Since it is obvious that none of those things occurred with the arrival of 1988-1995, it is now incumbent on us to show how this alternative view, which places the Great Tribulation during World War II, and a prophetic time frame during 1988-1995 with some of the characteristics of Daniel's 70th Week, to be the one that most accurately fulfills the prophetic scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments.

Admittedly this is a challenging task, but can we not at least agree at the outset that it's hard to imagine how a set of time periods and Levitical dates could become so elaborately enmeshed in a way more indicative of the End Times?
