DANIEL'S 70TH WEEK (PART II) |
The apparent failure of the 1988-1995 seven-year interval to produce the results indicated in the Daniel prophecy was quite perplexing at the time. It was apparent that those 70 Week promises would require dramatic changes in Israel's relationship with God to bring them to a proper state of redemption through Messiah, yet nothing observable happened.
Early in 1998, the State of Israel began to advertise its upcoming 50th year in the Land. Special celebrations were scheduled in Jerusalem, and tours to Israel were offered to witness that special time in the State of Israel's history. Then comments were heard on radio and television about 1998 being Israel's first "Jubilee" following their rebirth in 1948. When first mentioned, it appeared that this was the wrong year, being three years later than the 1995 Jubilee year derived from the Old Testament. Then it suddenly occurred that for the new State of Israel, 1998 was indeed their Jubilee year. In fact, 20th century Jews had made their "exodus" out of the Gentile nations following World War II, and 1998 was their first Jubilee after becoming the new State of Israel.
When the legitimacy of Jubilee, 1998 was recognized, it was realized for the first time that two prophetic Jubilee Calendars might be operative for the End Times. The first Jubilee Calendar that governed the beginning of David's reign in 1006 BC, eventually ended in Jubilee year 1995. Consequently, if 1988-1995 was the 70th Week for "Daniel's people", that seven-year period would have fulfilled the Biblical promises originally mandated for those ancient Israelites. However, if a second prophetic Jubilee Calendar existed, it would be needed to fulfill those promises for the "Sons of Daniel's people". Moreover, it would have to possess the internal properties of the "70th Week" required for the coming of Messiah and introduction of His Kingdom, but would have to begin on a Jubilee year in order to fully reproduce the kingdom pattern originally set with David.
Since we have already discovered that the ancient Jubilee Calendar was quite important prophetically with respect to God's Redemptive Plan for ancient Israel, it was decided to examine the seven-year period beginning with Jubilee, 1998 for the State of Israel, to determine whether it might also have prophetic timeline properties like its 1988-1995 counterpart. The results are shown in the following chart, placed alongside the timeline already studied in (Part I) for the 1988-1995 time frame.

A COMPARISON OF THE SEVEN-YEAR INTERVALS |
Here are the similarities between the two seven-year intervals.
All of the timelines in Daniel pertinent to the 70th Week appear in both seven-year intervals, and the timelines shown began and ended on significant Levitical dates, or dates when significant events occurred.
There are two 2520-day
timelines ("7 years") shown, one in
each seven-year interval.
Both began
on the day following Chislev 4 (Zechariah 7.1), in 1988 and 1998 respectively. Both ended on Tishri 14
(Zechariah 14.16) at
the advent of Tabernacles in 1995 and 2005 respectively.
There are two 2300-day timelines shown, one in the first seven-year interval, and one in the second.
They both began on Elul 1 (Haggai 1.1), in 1989 and 1998 respectively, and ended on Chislev 25 (Hanukkah) in 1995 and 2004 respectively.
There are three 1260-day timelines ("3˝ times") shown, one in the 1988-1995 interval, and two in the 1998-2005 interval.
Two began on Tishri 10 (Atonement), in 1989 and 2000 respectively. These both ended on the days immediately preceding new Levitical years, i.e. Nisan 1, in 1993 and 2004 respectively.
The third 1260-day timeline began on Tishri 14 (advent of Tabernacles), 1999, and ended with the Bush ultimatum at the advent of the 1993 Iraqi war.
There are three 1290-day timelines shown, one in the 1988-1995 interval, and the remaining two in the 1998-2005 interval.
Two of these timelines began on Tishri 1 (Trumpets), in 1989 and 2000 respectively. Both of these ended on Easter Sunday in 1993 and 2004 respectively.
The remaining one is located in the 1998-2005 interval. It began on the 9/11 date of the terrorist attack, and ended on Adar 13 (Esthers Fast), 2005.
There are two 1335-day timelines shown, one in the 1988-1995 interval, and one in the 1998-2005 interval.
Both of these timelines began on Tishri 1 (Trumpets), in 1989 and 2000 respectively, and ended on Sivan 6 (Pentecost), in 1993 and 2004 respectively.
The
statements made with respect to the uniqueness of the 1988-1995 seven-year
interval
also apply with respect to the uniqueness of the 1998-2005 seven-year
interval.

THE TWO SEVEN-YEAR INTERVALS COMBINED |
|
THE
1988-1995 SEVEN-YEAR INTERVAL RELATES THE FIRST ONE OF DANIEL'S 1290
DAYS TO THE DAILY SACRIFICE |
The study of the 1988-1995 interval left an unanswered question. Why did the 1290 days not also begin with an "abomination of desolation"? With the discovery of the 1998-2005 period, it is now observed that the final 1290 days in this second seven-year interval began on September 11, 2001, thereby relating it to the "abomination of desolation" of 9/11.
Review the Daniel text again to see how these combined seven-year intervals could fully explain this portion of Daniel's prophecy.
|
(Daniel 12:11-12) |
The usual
interpretation of sentences constructed in this manner supposes that both
events, i.e. “the time that the daily sacrifice
is taken away” and
“abomination of desolation is set up”, occur at the same time, so that a
single 1290 days is counted from that initial date to give a single final
date. However, if there exist more than one 1290-day timeline, the sentence
could be compounded with respect to the multiple 1290 days in the following way,
to permit
the possibility of separate starting and ending dates.
|
(Daniel
12.11) (Daniel
12.11) NKJV |
This rendition allows for the following interpretation: The 1290 days in the 1988-1995 interval would begin on a date to be associated with the taking away of the "daily sacrifice", while the final 1290 days in the 1998-2005 interval would highlight a date associated with the setting up of the "abomination of desolation" at the time of 9/11.
We will recall from the earlier work in Coming Glory that the Hebrew for "set up" is a very common word, having a wide latitude of possible meanings.
|
5414 nathan
(naw-than'); Strong's Lexicon |
If any of the English equivalents highlighted had been used to translate "nathan", the connection with 9/11 takes on a special meaning, because "September 11" is the date "appointed", "assigned", or "ordained" to memorialize that "abomination of desolation", i.e. the date from which it is "counted".
That this meaning is in harmony with the context of the Daniel prophecy is seen by reviewing the text immediately preceding the verse in question.
|
(Daniel 12:5-13) |
It's apparent that the dialog between Daniel and the angel that he directed Daniel to focus his attention on the time frame associated with a "time, times, and half a time", i.e. "3˝ times" = 1260 days. When Daniel failed to understand the meaning, the angel at first seemed reluctant to provide more information, then added verse 11 to amplify his earlier remark concerning the 1260 days. Hence, a 1335 days must be associated with this final 1260 days, "when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered". Furthermore, it is clear that it must end after the 1290 days associated with the abomination of desolation of 9/11. Since the existence of that final 1260 days and 1335 days does not appear in the 1998-2005 interval, it must be a topic for later discussion.
|
THE SECOND 1998-2005 SEVEN-YEAR INTERVAL IS ALSO IMPLIED BY (REVELATION 12.12-17) |
The earlier study of (Revelation 12.1-12) in (Part I) of Daniel's 70th Week identified a Midweek time of redemption for a heavenly contingent of the "Woman", i.e. Covenantal Israel, suggesting that midweek Pentecost following the 1260 day period shown in the 1988-1995 timeline. Now observe how the remaining verses in (Revelation 12.12-17) additionally provide support for this 1998-2005 timeline.
(Revelation 12:12-17)
12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time."
13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.
14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.
16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.
17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
NKJV
It is clear from (Revelation 12) that the "Woman" must be regarded as two groups of Hebrew people, for even after the members of the "Woman" in heavenly places have been redeemed in verses 1-12a, verses 12b-17 indicate that other members of the "Woman" still remain on earth, subject to continuing persecution by the devil. Moreover, verse 14 speaks of a second period of "3˝ times" = 1260 days for those remaining on earth.
Therefore, this Revelation account dealing with the "Woman" provides a scriptural basis for identifying multiple periods of "3˝ times" = 1260 days during the End Times. Since the first concerns that remnant of ancient Israel who have gone before, i.e. "Daniel's people", the second remaining on the earth can only refer to that remnant of modern-day restored Israel, i.e. "Sons of Daniel's people. Furthermore, the requirement for multiple periods of "3˝ times" = 1260 days also implies the existence of more than one seven-year interval, just like those identified in this study.
|
THE SECOND 1998-2005 SEVEN-YEAR INTERVAL ALSO SUPPORTS SCRIPTURE IN THE SONG OF SONGS DEALING WITH THE RAPTURE |
You will observe a (1290/1260/1335) triad in the 1998-2005 interval that duplicates the (1290/1260/1335) triad in the 1988-1995 interval. That is to say, both of those triads began on the same Levitical dates in 1989 and 2000 respectively, and both ended on the same Levitical dates in 1993 and 2004 respectively. Such a repeated pattern is noteworthy because the triad in the 1988-1995 interval appeared to relate to the Rapture of the Body of Christ who slept (See the discussion in the 1988-1995 interval), yet nothing of consequence seemed to occur in the spring of 2004.
However, the Old Testament "Song of Songs" may shed some light on this apparent anomaly. That Hebrew poem appears to be prophetic of Christ and the Body of Christ (who will not become a reality until New Testament times). In the Song of Songs, a "Lover" persistently woos a woman by the name of "Shulamith" until she finally becomes His bride, but a study of that Hebrew poem shows that the "Lover" typifies Jesus Christ, and "Shulamith" the bride-to-be of Christ. In that poem, Shulamith is caught up to be with her Lover forever on two separate occasions, the first time in Chapter 4, then later in Chapter 6. Of course, the first time would typify the Rapture of certain Christians who "sleep", then later the Rapture of other Christians who are "alive and remain" (I Thessalonians 4.16-17). Nonetheless, an unexpected thing happens between Chapters 4 & 6. In Chapter 5, the Lover comes and is ready to take His Bride, but when she hesitates, He is forced to leave without her. Since the (1290/1260/1335) triad in the 1998-2005 timeline duplicates the (1290/1260/1335) triad in the 1988-1995 timeline, this present one appears to reflect that aborted attempt, described in Chapter 5 of the Song of Songs. This suggests that a third repeatable (1290/1260/1335) triad must still occur in the future to complete the pattern for those other Christians who remain.

THE WAR WAS TIMED |
The timelines in the above chart pertaining to Iraq show that all of the events with respect to that nation have been prophetic. Those relevant to the second Iraqi conflict in 1993 began on September 24, 1999 and ended on April 15, 2003.
Some opponents of the Bush presidency have charged that there were plans early in his administration to invade Iraq. Whether or not that is the case cannot be substantiated by these timelines, for it is evident that a 1260-day countdown for that conflict began in September, 1999, even before his presidency began. In fact, the prophetic nature of the 2003 Iraqi conflict becomes evident when the following chronology is set down.
September 24, 1999 (Tishri 14) + 1260 days (exc) = March 7, 2003
The evening of March 7, 2003 was a hallmark date in anticipation of the war, being the time when President Bush issued his famous 10-day ultimatum, compelling Iraq to fully meet the provisions of U.N. Resolution 1441. That ultimatum set the stage for a pre-emptive military strike against Iraq by the United States and its coalition forces.
Evening of March 7, 2003 + 10 days (exc) = Evening of March 17, 2003 (Adar 14)
Bush's 10-day ultimatum ended in the early hours of Adar 14 (Purim), 2003. However, Bush then extended his 10-day deadline by 48 hours, i.e.
Evening of March 17, 2003 + 48 hours = Evening of March 19, 2003
During this 48-hour extension, the first shots of the war were fired on March 18 (Adar 15) by a Kuwaiti gunboat against the Iraqis who were attempting to lay mines just south of the port of Umm Qasr.
Then on the evening of March 19 (Adar 16), immediately following the 48-hour extension, the United States launched its first air strike of the war against a bunker on the outskirts of Baghdad, thought to be occupied by Saddam Hussein and his sons.
March 7, 2003 + 40 days (inc) = April 15, 2003 (Nisan 13)
Precisely 40 days were spanned from the date of Bush's ultimatum until the end of the second Iraqi war, when final victory was secured with the fall of Tikrit, Iraq on April 15, 2003 (Nisan 13) at the advent of Passover, 2003.
It is clear from the above dates and time periods that the second Iraqi war was prophetic from start to finish, falling on key Levitical dates, and spanning time intervals that repeated numerical spans of time common with previous prophetic events recorded in the seven-year intervals. It is of particular interest to observe that just as the first Iraqi war ended on Adar 14 (Purim), the second Iraqi war began immediately following that date 12 years later, suggesting that the second conflict, in some sense, fulfilled the prophetic actions that began during that earlier 1988-1995 seven-year interval.
