| 20TH CENTURY TIMELINE |
Before narrowing the discussion down to the detailed evidence of God's prophetic Plan in the 20th century, it should be recognized that there are three main views associated with a study of the End Times (eschatology). Those three views may be distinguished by the way one understands the first seven verses in the New Testament book of Revelation. Those verses speak of a period of "1000 years" termed the "Millennium", when Satan is "bound". The three major divergent views are termed Postmillennialism, Amillennialism, and Premillennialism, even though it might be argued that the term "Kingdom" better describes the issue, since that speaks of an economy in God's Plan with far-reaching roots in the Old Testament. Briefly, these three may be summarized as follows:
Postmillennialism: This interpretation maintains that gospel efforts will one day largely root out evil, so that Messiah can initiate judgement and begin a 1000 year spiritual reign over the earth. This theory, now contested by the progress of history since Biblical times, is no longer very popular although there are still a few adherents.
Amillennialism: Advocates of this view maintain that no literal future Millennium is taught in the Bible, and that its provisions have already been fulfilled throughout the Age of the Gentiles. This theology tends to spiritualize the vast number of Kingdom promises in the Old Testament that seem to be intended for Israel. For example, wherever Israel appears to be described back in the Land in a future context, the text is taken to mean the Christian Church. Thus, Amillennialism makes no trenchant differentiation between Israel and the Church. It also contends that Satan has been "bound" throughout the Church Age.
Premillennialism: This view of eschatology teaches that the Age of the Gentiles is destined to end in judgment at the second coming of Messiah, who will then restore the Kingdom to Israel before reigning for a literal "1000 years". Premillennialists maintain that their view literally embraces all of the Kingdom promises to Israel in the Old Testament, as well as the "Day of the Lord" which is prominent in Scripture, and connects the Kingdom with the Millennium. They contend that Satan has not been "bound" throughout the Church Age, citing the appalling conflicts that have characterized the Age of the Gentiles. They believe the Millennium will be the last of the ordered ages of time, characterized by the binding of Satan which will result in a time of peace on earth and a severe limitation of sin.
With such marked differences regarding the End Times, it's no wonder that so many ideas have evolved on the subject. Moreover, these three principal views date back into prior centuries, also influencing the way that past Bible scholars interpreted the End Times. However, whatever else may be said about their sincerity or quality of scholarship, it is now obvious that those early writers were unable to incorporate into their views Israel's restoration following World War II, or major world events that have transpired since that time. We are reminded of the heavenly messenger's response to Daniel when he pleaded for more detail concerning the End times.
|
(Daniel 12.8-9) NKJV |
Vastly more earthshaking than the above theological technicalities would be the imposition on the world of a completely new type of economy by God. The world at large has witnessed more killing and barbarism in the 20th century than in any previous century, and longs for a new and better 21th century, conceived and orchestrated by sensible men. The Bible, often ridiculed and vilified in modern times, is considered irrelevant to the future. However, if it should prove that the Bible actually contains God's Plan for mankind in the coming Millennium, and we are seeing its incipient stages at the close of the 20th century, people and nations would have to face the reality that their near-term futures will not be theirs to mold. Such a realization would surely create a momentous collision between a man-centered versus God-centered world view.
It is with these musings that the following evidence is offered for your consideration.
| THE GENERAL
HISTORIC RECORD FROM 1948 TO 1995 |
Israel's Redemptive Timeline showed how the newly formed 20th century State of Israel is aligned with the Old Testament period of the United Kingdom in that Timeline. The singular fact that David and his kingdom were prototypical of Messiah and His coming Kingdom would by itself make this overall interval of time of particular interest, but Israel's Redemptive Timeline also uncovered another startling fact. It was shown that the State of Israel was created on the precise date to not only reproduce the timeline for the Davidic kingdom, but additionally to enable the incorporation of a seven year period having the properties of Daniel's "70th Week", and ending in a Jubilee year at the advent of Tabernacles, singularly connected to the next Millennium by the prophet Zechariah! When all of these features are taken together, it becomes evident that the 20th century State of Israel must be fulfilling God's prophetic Plan in some sense. This compels us to examine the record of Israel's history more closely to see if we can learn just how.
During the first 40 years of Israel's existence from 1948 to 1988, we would be hard pressed to correlate specific historic events against the three prophetic calendars in a way that might convince us of an on-going prophetic Plan. The May 14, 1948 date of birth for the State of Israel did not appear at the time to fall on a significant Levitical date, though it proved 47 years later in Jubilee 1995 to be the precise date required to initiate a timeline with overall prophetic overtones. Likewise none of the major wars they fought during the ensuing years fell on significant dates in the Levitical calendar, except of course the 1973 Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) war.
It is only when the overall (40 + 7) year historic record is examined in broad terms that it seems generally emblematic of that corresponding (40 + 7) year period of Saul's and David's reign. For example, notice the rough correspondence in the trends of these two "kingdoms" as depicted by the following comparative chart.
| THE OLD
TESTAMENT KINGDOM COMPARED WITH THE 20TH CENTURY STATE OF ISRAEL |
| OLD TESTAMENT KINGDOM | 20TH CENTURY STATE OF ISRAEL |
|
Saul's kingdom began on a High note with immediate stunning military victories over the Ammonites and Edomites to the east, the Philistines within the Land, and the Amalekites to the south, thereby establishing Israel's sovereignty over the Land. |
The State of Israel also began on a High note with immediate stunning victories in their 1948/49 war of independence, then the 1956 war with Egypt, and the 1967 six-day war when they gained sovereignty over the entire Land. |
|
Saul was the people's choice to govern Israel just like the Gentile nations round about (I Samuel 8.1-7), and his reign was marked by secularism. |
The State of Israel was formed as a representative government elected by the people, and its conduct has been marked by secularism similar to those of the Gentile nations of the world. |
|
Saul's 40 year kingdom ended during a time when a serious conflict broke out with the Philistines within the Land, threatening Israel's very future. |
The State of Israel's first 40 years in the Land ended during a time when it was forced to face the reality of an internal Palestinian "Intafada", threatening its very future. |
|
Following the death of Saul, an abrupt change of leadership occurred. David became king over the southern region of Judah, while Ishbosheth was made king over the remaining tribes to the north. The result created a serious division within Israel that persisted for seven years until David was finally anointed king over all of Israel at the conclusion of that seven year period. |
Following the first 40 years of Israel's 20th century history, the nation began to experience great internal dissensions. During the years from 1988 to 1993, The chief problem concerned the proper handling of the Palestinian uprising. Then in 1993, a "Peace Accord" was signed between Israel and the PLO leadership, promising peace in the Land in exchange for Israel's acquiescence of control over the West Band and Gaza. Unfortunately, that Accord did not cause the internal strife to abate, but actually produced the opposite effect through 1995. |
|
Following David's anointing over all of Israel, the Philistines launched a concerted effort against Israel to gain control of the Land, but they were defeated. Then after this time, David continued his conquests against the Philistines and Israel's other neighboring enemies until they were all defeated, and Israel's territorial control was extended to the regions originally promised to Abraham and his descendants through Issac. |
In 1996, the State of Israel held a new election, and the more conservative Likud branch of government gained control. The new government took a hard line against the 1993 Peace Accord's core provision for Israel to trade Land for peace. As a result, PLO Chairman Yassir Arafat stands ready to unilaterally declare a Palestinian State in the disputed regions of the Land, and Israel's future still remains in jeopardy. |
Although a rather tenuous correlation between the two kingdom periods could be argued on the basis of the above comparisons, they still fail to provide the hard evidence required to state unequivocally that Israel's historic record has been punctuated by specific events that are clearly prophetic. However, we have not yet examined that final seven year period from 1988-1995 using the three prophetic calendars previously extracted from the Bible, so that must be the next step.
| THE DETAILED
HISTORIC RECORD FROM 1988 TO 1995 |
A detailed examination of the historic record from 1988 to 1995 will reveal it to be clearly prophetic, as seen from three different perspectives.
Israel's Redemptive Timeline shown in a previous section of COMING GLORY highlighted the times of the Babylonian and Roman invasions and destructions of Jerusalem and the Temple. Certain similarities between them are especially interesting, because the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy predicted that only two dispersions of the Jews would occur before their final redemption.
The first dispersion, prophesied in (Deuteronomy 28.36-37), was carried out in two phases. The first phase occurred when the northern kingdom (Israel) was swept away into Assyria, and the second phase when Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed on the Levitical date of Ab 9, 586 BC, and the southern kingdom (Judah) was exiled into Babylon. There were three partial returns led first by Zerubbabel, then years later by Ezra, and Nehemiah. In 520 BC, shortly after the Zerubbabel return, the prophet Haggai prophesied concerning the rebuilding of the Temple, and the prophet Zechariah saw the future from those days forward to the second return of Messiah and The Coming Kingdom during the Millennium.
The second dispersion, prophesied in (Deuteronomy 28.25, 63-67), came by the Romans with another destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple again on the same Levitical date of Ab 9, but in the year AD 70. However, it was not into a single nation like Babylon, but "among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other". A re-gathering from that second dispersion was also prophesied in (Deuteronomy 30.1-6; Isaiah 41.8-20), where phrases appear like, "among all the nations", and "--- whom I have taken from the ends of the earth". Therefore, the second re-gathering was clearly predicted to be a worldwide one, and since it was to be the final one, must immediately precede The Coming Glory of Messiah's Kingdom.
The fact that the first and second destructions of the Temple occurred on the very same Levitical date, i.e. Ab 9, suggests that repeated patterns in Israel's Redemptive Plan may be at work here as well. Similarly, look at how the date that began the 1988-1995 period also duplicated another prophetic date that portends the coming of Messiah's Kingdom.
Chislev 4, 520 BC, was the very first Levitical date following the Babylonian dispersion when the prophet Zechariah began to tell of Israel's future, leading ultimately to Messiah's Millennial Kingdom (Zechariah 7.1).
Do you recall the following comparison between the Old Testament Kingdom and the 20th Century State of Israel from Israel's Redemptive Timeline? Look at it and notice that the Levitical date of Chislev 4 appears in it at the advent of these final seven years presently under discussion. That date was prophetic not only because it appeared in Zechariah, but more importantly because it repeats the same Levitical date at the end of the Babylonian dispersion, and is the date that initiates the prophecies in Zechariah leading up to the coming of Messiah's Kingdom.
| OLD TESTAMENT KINGDOM | 20TH CENTURY STATE OF ISRAEL |
| 1047/46 BC Saul began to reign | May 14, 1948 State of Israel formed |
| + 40 years | + 40 years (exactly) |
| Jubilee 1007/06 BC David reigns over Judah | |
| + 6 months | + 6 months (exactly) |
| November 13 (Chislev 4), 1988 | |
| + 7 years | + 7 years x 360days/year = 2520 days |
| 1000/99 BC David reigns over all Israel | Tishri 14(Tabernacles) , Jubilee 1995 |
Therefore, 1988-1995 began on a prophetic date that should ultimately end with the coming of Messiah and His Kingdom!
| 1988-1995 CAN
BE LINKED DIRECTLY TO WORLD WAR II AND THE HOLOCAUST |
| ELUL 1 |
Elul 1, 520 BC, was the initial Levitical date given to the prophet Haggai following the Babylonian dispersion. As such, it became the linchpin date that linked Israel's previous hard times during the Babylonian Exile with the Lord's dated prophetic Plan to follow. That prophetic Plan then identified His ultimate intention to bless Israel as His "signet ring" in the End Times (Haggai 1.1).
Now observe how that same Elul 1 Levitical date, this time in 1989, was also the linchpin Levitical date that linked Israel's previous hard times with the Lord's future intention to bless Israel.
Elul 1, 1989 was linked directly back to World War II and the Holocaust by virtue of the fact that it fell on September 1, for that date was also the 50th year anniversary date for World War II. Thus it was linked back to a period in 20th century history when the Jews apparently had no future.
Elul 1, 1989 was also linked to a future Levitical date, Chislev 25, 1995, by virtue of a 2300 day interval between them. This 2300 day interval is known to be prophetic by its mention in (Daniel 8.1-14).
|
(Daniel 8.13-14) NKJV |
The original 2300 days was fulfilled during the times of an evil depot named Antiochus Epiphanes who ruled Syria during the Intertestament period, and who attempted to abolish Judaism by desecrating the Temple, and forbidding their worship of God. It is recorded that those 2300 days ended on Chislev 25 (Hanukah), 164 BC, when that prophecy was fulfilled by the cleansing and rededication of the Second Temple built following the Babylonian Exile (I Maccabees 4.52-55).
However, it is accepted by many Bible scholars that Antiochus Epiphanes was also prototypical of another evil ruler to come during the End Times who would completely fulfill that prophecy. It is therefore intriguing that Elul 1, 1989, the memorial date for World War II when Adolph Hitler persecuted and attempted to eradicate the Jews, also was associated with a 2300 day period that ended on Chislev 25 (Hanukkah), in Jubilee year 1995.
Elul 1, 1989 was also linked to the 1988-1995 "midweek" period by virtue of a 1290 day interval. This may be seen from another of Daniel's prophecies.
|
(Daniel
12.4-13) NKJV |
The topic of this prophecy very clearly concerns the End Times. Notice that three different time periods are mentioned in this prophecy, i.e.
"Time, times, and half a time" or 3½ times, which in a 360 day calendar would be 1260 days.
1290 days, which is simply 30 days or one month longer in a 360 day calendar.
1335 days, which is simply 45 days or 1½ months longer in a 360 day calendar.
Now notice a very interesting thing about Elul 1, 1989. Since it fell on September 1, 1989, and Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) fell on September 30, Trumpets would have been day 30 of a 1290 day count ending at "midweek". Therefore, if Elul 1, 1989 was intended to be that starting date, it also marked the "setting up" of the "abomination of desolation". In addition, a 1335 day count from that Rosh Hashanah will be found to fall on Pentecost, following that Midweek. Of course, Pentecost was the time of blessing on previous occasions, for it is the traditional Old Testament date when Moses received the Law on tablets of stone on the summit of Mount Sinai, and it is the New Testament recorded date when the Holy Spirit came and believers received the Law written in their minds and hearts (Jeremiah 31.31-34).
The Hebrew word that has been translated "setting up" is the word "nathan". This word has a great latitude of meanings as can be seen by the following definition from Strong's lexicon.
5414 nathan (naw-than');
a primitive root; to give, used with greatest latitude of application (put, make, etc.):
add, apply, appoint, ascribe, assign, X avenge, X be ([healed]), bestow, bring (forth, hither), cast, cause, charge, come, commit, consider, count, + cry, deliver (up), direct, distribute, do, X doubtless, X without fail, fasten, frame, X get, give (forth, over, up), grant, hang (up), X have, X indeed, lay (unto charge, up), (give) leave, lend, let (out), + lie, lift up, make, + O that, occupy, offer, ordain, pay, perform, place, pour, print, X pull put (forth), recompense, render, requite, restore, send (out), set (forth), shew, shoot forth (up), + sing, + slander, strike, [sub-] mit, suffer, X surely, X take, thrust, trade, turn, utter, + weep, + willingly, + withdraw, + would (to) God, yield. On the basis of Strong's definition, if the word had rather been translated "appointed, ascribed, assigned, or possibly counted", Daniel's prophecy could have referred to World War II and the time of the Holocaust! Thus the most horrendous war ever to occur in the history of the world when over six million Jews were dealt with in the most cruel and heinous ways imaginable would become the "abomination of desolation" that fulfilled this portion of Daniel's prophecy of the End Times.
Some who have carefully studied the characteristics of the Lunar Levitical calendar will be aware that certain time periods like 1290, 1335, and 2300, will occasionally recur, and might therefore object to the claim that these time intervals are particularly significant. While it is true that they do reappear from time to time, the 19 year metonic cycle of the Lunar calendar will make their simultaneous occurrence in a seven year 2520 day period, that also ends in a Jubilee year, extremely rare. Furthermore, the connection of Chislev 4 with the rebirth of Israel and Elul 1 with World War II are one-time occurrences, making this particular seven year period absolutely unique.
Both World War II and the rebirth of Israel after almost 2000 years must certainly be counted as epochal events when studied against the backdrop of all human history. However, starting in 1989 immediately after Elul 1, a very odd thing began to happen with regard to major world events related even remotely to the Jews or the State of Israel. This curious thing was so subtle that it escaped detection by the entire news media, and apparently even by Bible scholars studying prophecy. Yet if it had been detected, it might have for some, laid to rest the issue of whether there is a sovereign God governing the affairs of men, and could have for others, been the basis for asserting that God does indeed have a specific End Time Plan for the nations.
Beginning in 1989, shortly after the Levitical date of Tishri 1 (Trumpets), all of the major events in the world having any relevance at all to Israel began to be timed in such a way that each one was highlighted by overlaying that current Levitical calendar against the event. Furthermore, whenever time intervals were involved in the progress of the event, the prophetic 360 Day calendar proved to be the only one capable of highlighting those intervals!
Now it is recognized that neither the prophetic Levitical nor 360 Day calendars should have any relevance whatever to recent world events that were evidently shaped by men who had little or no regard for the Bible. Therefore this incredible assertion requires convincing proof, so here are the facts.
During the first half of 1989, there was much political unrest concerning human rights in the Communist nations of Poland and Hungary. In January, 1989, the Communist Party agreed to talks with the Solidarity Trade Union. This was followed three months later by the government's agreement to reinstate the Union's legal status, leading to Poland's first free election on June 4. In May, 1989, Janos Kadar, Hungary's Communist leader for more than 32 years was forced to step down and was replaced by Karoly Nemeth, a more democratically oriented Prime Minister.
However, the real explosion that brought about the complete downfall of Communism in Eastern Europe occurred on October 18, when Erich Honecker, the Communist Party leader and head of state of East Germany was forced to step down. As East German Communists were stripped of their power, the other Communist governments in Eastern Europe also began to crumble. It was Bulgaria on November 10, Czechoslovakia on November 14, and finally Romania on December 22, when Communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was driven from power and killed in a bloody revolt.
Now track these dates just set down as they appear when compared against a Levitical calendar for the fall of 1989.
October 18, 1989, fell on Tishri 19 during the Feast of Tabernacles.
Chislev 24 fell on December 22, 1989. This Levitical date was the advent of Hanukkah when the cleansing and rededication of the Old Testament Temple was celebrated.
Chislev 24 was also the date on which the Old Testament prophet Haggai prophesied concerning an End Times overthrow of Gentile kingdoms from within. (Haggai 2.22)
1989 completed just 70 years for worldwide Communism, which began in 1919, the prophetic number for judgement.
Thus, the kingdoms in that area of the world that had hosted the concentration camps for the massacre of six million Jews during World War II, and then taken atheistic forms of government, suffered this first political "earthquake".
During the early months of 1990, there were demonstrations by the Palestinians inside Israel over the future of Jerusalem. In March, President George Bush stated that Jerusalem was an "occupied city", declaring that there should be no new Jewish settlements in East Jerusalem. Starting in April, Iraq's leader, Saddam Hussein, displayed his intense hatred for Israel by initiating a verbal attack against them. As the clouds of war in the Middle East gathered, Arab leaders convened in Baghdad in July to discuss the looming crisis, expressing their unanimous hatred against Israel. Muammar Qadhafi threatened to turn Israel "into a graveyard of Jews"; Jordan linked itself militarily with Iraq; and Yassir Arafat promised to join Saddam Hussein against Israel in the event of war.
On August 2, 1990, Iraq suddenly invaded Kuwait, occupying that small nation within 24 hours. Although the imminent military threat against the Saudi Arabian oil fields temporarily obscured the Palestinian problem, it created the distinct possibility for a direct Iraqi attack upon Israel.
In November, the United Nations sanctioned the use of military force against Iraq, but not to begin before January 15, 1991. Just one day later on January 16, U.N. coalition forces led by the United States began aerial attacks against Iraq. The bombardment was so intense so that they quickly gained air superiority and were able to destroy Iraq's command/control and primary targets at will.
On February 23, 1991, Iraq's ground army was sufficiently depleted and disorganized to enable a U.N. coalition ground attack against Iraq's elite front line "Republican Guard" troops. The ground portion of the war lasted only four days, and was concluded on February 27, 1991 with Iraq's total defeat.
Now notice what happens when the key dates for this Persian Gulf conflict are likewise overlaid with the prophetic Levitical and 360 Day calendars.
The August 2 invasion of Kuwait occurred precisely 210 days = "7" (30 day) months prior to Adar 13 (Purim), 1991. "7" is the prophetic number for something that is complete or perfect, usually signifying that which is of God, and the 210 days conforms only to a 360 Day calendar. Of course, Purim is one of the key holy convocation dates in the Levitical calendar.
The aerial portion of the war lasted precisely 6 weeks = 1/30 of a "time, times, and half a time", thereby again conforming only to a 360 Day calendar.
The subsequent 4 day ground war ended on Adar 13 (Purim), an Intertestament memorial date set up during the Old Testament time of Esther. This date has been observed among the Jews in all successive generations to remember the occasion when Gentile enemies of the Jews had the tables turned and were themselves humiliated.
Therefore, the Islamic nation of Iraq, seething with hatred for Israel as their military indiscriminately fired Scud missiles into Israel's populated centers, were themselves militarily destroyed and publicly humiliated in the eyes of the world.
Mikhail Gorbachev had orchestrated for himself a brilliant rise through the ranks of the Soviet Communist bureaucracy. His down-to-earth westernized approach and reform mentality over six years as head of the Soviet Union had endeared him to many outsiders in the Western world. However, it was all a facade, masking manifold internal problems within that corrupt and decaying empire.
As popular disenchantment with the unworkable Communist society continued to rise, a group of traditional hard-line Communist leaders decided something must be done to reset the clock. On August 18, 1991, they launched a coup, attempting to depose Gorbachev and others who were moving the Soviet Union toward a more free market economy.
However the coup backfired, for it became the catalyst that quickly precipitated the death knell for the entire Soviet empire. The coup ended on August 21 after just four days, but when Gorbachev returned from his Crimea villa where he had been forcibly detained, he witnessed the uncontrollable disintegration of the Soviet central government, and emergence of Boris Yeltsin as chief power-broker. Between August 23 and August 31, the Soviet states of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Moldavia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kirghizia had all declared their independence, Georgia having already seceded on August 9.
During the remainder of 1991, unsuccessful attempts were made to save the Soviet Union from total disintegration, but its fate was finally sealed on December 1, 1991, and the following week, when the Ukraine and several slavic republics of Russia declared the Soviet Union officially "dead".
In a final "death rattle", a move was made to form a new "Commonwealth of Independent States" (CIS), but that confederation turned out to be stillborn, when the first CIS Summit meeting ended without achieving a single one of its chief agenda items.
Once again, the conversion of the above key dates and time intervals to their Levitical and 360 Day counterparts, for the disintegration of the Soviet Union is very revealing.
It was reported that then President Bush quipped, "what's this thing with August", when he heard of the August collapse of the Soviet Union, following roughly a year after the August Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Undoubtedly, he would have been even more perplexed had he realized that what was only approximate in our Gentile calendar, was actually timed with the utmost precision in the 360 Day calendar, for that August 22 date following the failed coup also began another 210 days = "7" (30 day) months, compatible only with the prophetic 360 Day calendar, and completed on Purim, 1992!
The December 1, 1991 date when the Soviet Union was declared officially "dead" also fell on Chislev 24, that prophesied End Times Levitical date given in (Haggai 2.22) for the overthrow of Gentile kingdoms from within. Of course, the other Russian signatories of that declaration did so during Hanukkah week, the celebration time for the cleansing and rededication of the "Temple".
That failed CIS Summit concluded on Purim, 1992, again the time designated when Gentile enemies of the Jews have the tables turned and are themselves humiliated.
Thus a once mighty empire, always an archenemy of Israel, and founded on the ideology that there is no God, came to an ignoble and humiliating demise from which they have not recovered to this day.
What's going on here? I thought that the Soviet Union collapsed simply because they had overextended their resources in their Cold War competition with the United States, and that we should at least get a little credit for their demise? Now it turns out that the whole thing was timed according to a set of prophetic calendars extracted from the Bible that we obviously had nothing to do with!
On October 7, 1992, the State of Israel indicated for the first time that it would accept participation by Palestinians from outside the occupied territories in regional Mideast Peace talks. That step indicated diplomatically that Israel was ready to relax its no- compromise-stance on the Land, suggesting that the "occupied regions" might become negotiable at some future time.
On August 30, 1993, less than a year later, Israel's Cabinet endorsed a Palestinian take-over of the West Bank within six months from that date. Hence Israel agreed to end occupation of that territory which had been acquired during the 1967 Six-Day war. Although the West Bank is part of Israel's Biblical heritage, comprising the Old Testament regions of Judea and Samaria, the violent 5½ year Intifada uprising had convinced many Jews they were better off without those territories.
This decision came after 100 years of conflict between Palestinians and Jews in the Land, and was heralded as both astonishing and hopeful in the eyes of the entire world. President Clinton extolled its virtue and arranged the official signing of Phase I of the Israeli/PLO peace Accord at the White House on September 13, 1993.
However, the high optimism quickly began to wane when acts of Islamic terrorism increased dramatically after September 29. Israeli settlers in the West Bank banded together against the Peace Accord as the PLO leadership, paying lip-service to the Accord, still refused to formally renounce a basic tenant of their charter to totally eradicate the State of Israel from all of "Palestine".
The Peace Process struggled on without agreement until February 25, 1994, when disaster struck. Baruch Goldstein, a Hebron Jewish settler armed with a rifle and hand granades, entered Abraham's Mosque during special Islamic prayer services, and massacred 30 to 40 worshippers in cold blood. For a time, it appeared the Peace Process might die, but the heinous deed curiously produced an opposite effect over the following weeks. It drove Israel, amid a torrent of Palestinian outrage and terror, to finally sign Phase I of the land-for-peace trade on May 4, 1994. This date was to begin a six-year Peace Process intended to conclude all the provisions of the Peace Accord.
Through the remainder of 1994 and into 1995, the Peace Process moved toward Phase II of the plan, calling for Israel's pull out from seven cities and 450 villages in the West Bank. Phase II was finally negotiated on September 25, 1995. Then, on November 4, 1995, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, the chief visionary and architect of the original Accord was assassinated by a Jewish zealot. Although the Phase II transfer of land continued under his successor, a series of Hamas terrorist raids against Jerusalem and Tel Aviv before Passover, 1996, brought the Peace Process to a halt, and seriously weakened newly installed Prime Minister Shimon Peres' defense of the Accord. When new Israeli elections were later held in May, 1996, the Lukud party defeated the Peres Labor party by a slim margin. Newly elected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took a hard line against the basic Land-for-peace provision of the Peace Accord, thereby stalling the Peace Process until the fall of 1998. Then on October 22, following a week of negotiations at Wye, Maryland, this U.S. hosted attempt to jump-start the Peace Process boasted a new signed agreement to continue the trading of Land-for-peace. However, the Likud's willingness to sign the agreement was criticized by many Israelis as a major policy reversal, forcing new elections to be held in May, 1999, as the saga of the Peace Process continues.
This epic series of events in the history of 20th century Israel was quite different from the previous ones cited above, for it involved voluntary and unilateral actions by Israel itself rather than political upheavals within and between Gentile nations. These differences are seen to be reflected in the specific Levitical dates and time intervals that come to play when the prophetic Levitical and 360 Day calendars are overlaid upon this continuing event.
Israel's October 7, 1992, initial acceptance of extra-Palestinian involvement in regional Mideast Peace talks fell on Tishri 10 (Atonement). This is Israel's most holy Levitical date and the one when Jews are supposed to consider their actions, repent of sins, and seek God's forgiveness.
Israel's August 30, 1993 endorsement of Palestinian self-rule in the West Bank region began exactly 180 days = "6" (30 day) months prior to Adar 14 (Purim), 1994. Unlike the earlier "7" month periods that signify "completion or perfection", the number "6" signifies something more sinister, for it is the number of man or Satan.
Acts of terrorism by Islamic fundamentalists immediately followed September 29, 1993, i.e. Tishri 14, at the advent of Tabernacles. This date also initiated a period of exactly 150 days = "5" (30 day) months prior to that Adar 14 (Purim), 1994. The number "5" typically signifies "grace", so that interval should represent a time of grace to precede what follows.
Baruch Goldstein, the Hebron Israeli settler, massacred the Islamic worshippers in Abraham's Mosque on February 25, 1994 which fell on that Adar 14 (Purim), 1994.
After the signing of Phase I of the Peace Accord on May 4, 1994, negotiations continued until Tishri 1 (Trumpets), 1995, on which date Israel finally agreed to pull out of about 27% of the Land in the West Bank and Gaza.
In Jubilee year, 1995, Tishri 10 (Atonement) fell exactly 180 days = "6" (30 day) months prior to Nisan 13, 1996. Nisan 13 was the Old Testament Levitical date when wicked Haman secured a decree from Ahasuerus during the time of Esther to have all Jews killed and their possessions plundered.
Yitzhak Rabin was then assassinated on the following November 4, 1995, again exactly 150 days = "5' (30 day) months prior to that above Nisan 13, 1996 date.
No further progress was made on the Peace Process between that Nisan 13, 1996 date and May 29, 1996 when Benjamin Netanyahu was elected as Israel's new Prime Minister.
Although a number of other events in the Peace Process have occurred since that time, additional overlays of the prophetic Levitical and 360 Day calendars upon this continuing timeline will be deferred until a later time.
Once again it is clear that the chronology of this Israeli/Palestinian Peace Accord also followed precise milestones, highlighted by both the prophetic Levitical and 360 Day calendars. According to Old Testament prophecies, Israel's future inheritance is at stake in these dealings, so if Israel were seriously adhering to those precepts, one would expect them to take no actions to despise or jeopardize that inheritance. Yet it was Israel's government, with the support of many Israeli citizens, who took the initiative to begin bartering away their Land to secure "peace" with their enemies.
It is main purpose of COMING GLORY to simply present some hard evidence related to the End Times, not to debate all of the issues that they might spawn. However, certain prevailing views are so well known that at least three objections can be anticipated.
Okay, the
1988-1995 period certainly did have clear prophetic
properties, but it cannot be the 70th Week of Daniel
because no "great tribulation" occurred during
that period.
This is true, but the reader is asked to consider the
implications of the positive link established between
1988-1995 and World War II with its Holocaust.
The 1988-1995
seven year period cannot be Daniel's 70th Week, because
no "Anti-Christ" came to the fore during this
period.
This is also true, but those making such an assertion
could be challenged to show where in the Bible a direct
connection is ever made between the "70th Week"
and the term "Anti-christ". Of course, there
are various prophetic schemes that attempt to make such a
connection, but it is suggested that these need to be
reviewed carefully in light of the above historic facts.
1988-1995 could
not have been Daniel's 70th Week, because the promises
given by Gabriel to Daniel concerning the finish of the
transgression, end of sins, reconciliation for iniquity,
everlasting righteousness, etc. were not fulfilled for
the 20th century State of Israel, as clearly attested by
the above historic record.
Yes, all of this is unquestionably correct, but before
drawing such a conclusion, read the prophetic promise
once more.

(Daniel 9.24) NKJV |
The recipients of this promise have been highlighted for your special attention. After you decide who "your people" are, read (Daniel 12.1) which identifies some Jews who were predicted to suffer a "time of trouble", i.e. great tribulation, during the End Times. Does the above promise of the "70 Weeks" also apply to those Jews?
Independent of the above issues concerning the "70th Week", can there be any doubt that this 1988-1995 seven year period was prophetic, and that it should have given us ample warning of a countdown currently underway and orchestrated by the God of the universe? Perhaps the only thing really standing in the way of such a conclusion would be the plethora of prophetic doctrines or secular world views that have become so entrenched as to cloud our thinking. Still, such academic debates will ultimately pale into insignificance when we one day will be forced to contemplate our own personal relationship with this God who apparently not only has a prophetic Plan, but is making it happen according to His own choosing and timing. WHAT MORE CAN BE SAID?
